(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Thursday March 19, 2015 shortly before midnight, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Perth Road 131 north of Milverton, when an extremely fast moving south bound vehicle was observed.
The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 142 km/h. This is 62 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The offending driver operating a Ford Focus was pulled over north of Milverton.
Joshua DEHAAN (20) of the Township of Perth East was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is to appear at Stratford Court on April 28, 2015 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days while his vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.
The Perth County OPP wish to remind the public that they continue to concentrate on the “Big 4” dangerous driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and lack of seatbelt usage, in an attempt to keep our local roadways safe.
