Suspect charged in Bell Street convenience store robbery

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service has laid charges in connection to an overnight retail robbery.

On April 8, 2015, at approximately 2:50 am, Police responded to a report of a window having been broken at a convenience store situated along the 100 block of Bell Street. At the scene, Police ascertained there had in fact been a robbery. A lone suspect entered the premises carrying a rock and made a demand for money. When other people entered the store, the suspect fled, empty-handed, and then threw the rock at a window. The suspect was arrested nearby by patrol officers without incident. There were no injuries.

Ryan HENRY, age 26 of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:

* Robbery

* Possession of a weapon

* Uttering threats

* Mischief under $5000

* Breach of probation

Mr. Henry appears in court on April 8, 2015.
