Hensall Drunk Driver Surprised By RIDE

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 41 year old driver from Hensall is facing an Over 80 charge after he was stopped by police shortly after 9:00 p.m. on April 16, 2015. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers watched as the driver of a Ford Windstar minivan backed out of a laneway on Mill Road and then proceeded to drive only about 100 feet before he entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Mill Road and Parr Line in Varna.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was immediately placed under arrest for Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 41 year old James DUNBAR from Hensall has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 1, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
