Officer Facing 48 Charges Resigns

Brian Follis has resigned from being a Constable with the Owen Sound Police Service.

In November 2013, an internal investigation was commenced following a complaint into Follis’ conduct. At the request of Chief Sornberger the investigation was conducted by an external police service.

In June of 2014, that investigation was concluded and Follis was charged with a total of fifteen counts under the Police Services Act; he was suspended from duty.

Additional information was obtained that caused further investigation to be conducted. The second investigation resulted in Follis being charged with an additional thirty-three counts under the Police Services Act.

Follis’ decision to resign means there is no longer any jurisdiction to proceed with the [forty-eight] charges. The Hearing was scheduled to start on the 27th of April, 2015.
