On April 30th, 2015 shortly after 2:30 p.m. Owen Sound Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 6th Street and 7th Avenue East.
A motor vehicle operated by an 83 year old female driver had been westbound on 6th Street East when she collided with an eastbound e-bike at the intersection. The 83 year old female driver was attempting to make a southbound (left) turn onto 7th Avenue East.
The 57 year old female driver of the e-bike was thrown from her vehicle. The driver of the e-bike was transported to hospital by EMS for treatment of minor injuries. The motor vehicle driver has been charged with Turn- not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act. The collision caused the closure of the 6th Street East hill for a short period of time while the incident was investigated.
Police remind motorists to drive with increased awareness as with the warmer weather comes an increase in bicycle, motorcycle and pedestrian traffic.
