Early Morning Drunk Driver Caught Speeding On London Road

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 42 year old from London is facing a court date for Driving a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol & Speeding after police stopped him this past weekend.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Chevrolet Optra travelling southbound on London Road near Centennial Road at a high rate of speed. The officer was able to measure the vehicles speed at a rate of 107 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking with the male driver officers noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 42 year old Ted BALAYEWICH from London has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Speeding. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 1, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
