Two Fatal Collisions

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) –The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding all motorists that most fatal collisions happen when the weather is sunny and bright. This weekend confirmed that despite perfect road and weather conditions, two people died and several others were injured in separate collisions.

One person died this weekend in Carrick Township, another in Essex County and a couple more were injured in a Norfolk County this weekend. Each crash proved to be preventable by OPP investigators. “Driving requires 100 % of your attention 100% of the time!” – Traffic Inspector Steve Porter.

OPP remind motorists to check blind-spots for motorcycles and take extra time at intersections to ensure the way is clear. Police are reminding motorist of the importance of ensuring seat belts are worn at all times.

Don’t be distracted or less careful in warmer weather. Ensure any and all distractions are turned off and stored to prevent you from becoming another statistic. Police also remind motorists to keep the music at “safe” levels. Loud music can prevent drivers from hearing emergency vehicles or other alerts essential for safety.
