On May 11th, 2015 at approx. 2230Hrs the Barrie Police Service responded to the intersection of Yonge St. and Big Bay Point with regards to a motor vehicle collision involving two cars. Barrie Emergency Service responded. The police investigation revealed that a female driver had been operating her vehicle south on Yonge St. She attempted to turn west onto Big Bay Point, however, her vehicle struck the median and went airborne into the live lanes of eastbound traffic. The out of control vehicle then impacted the driver side of an eastbound car, rolled over and came to rest against a light pole. Barrie Fire Services utilized the jaws of life to free the female driver. Miraculously, the lone driver of the other motor vehicle was not significantly injured. The female driver was taken to RVH for medical treatment. She was ultimately released and now faces criminal charges of Impaired Operation and Refuse Breath Sample.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage as a result of this accident.
