On Saturday, May 17 at approximately 4:00 pm, the Chatham-Kent Police Service initiated a R.I.D.E. spot check in Kent Bridge. Approximately 25 vehicles were checked and noted and no infractions were noted.

On Sunday, May 17, 2015, a Hall Street, Blenheim resident discovered that two black chairs were stolen from her front porch. Yesterday morning, police attended the following the Pearl Street area in Tilbury as unlocked vehicles were entered sometime overnight. The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that a vehicle with an unlocked door is an easy target for criminals. This holiday season, protect yourself from being victim: lock your doors, park in well-lit areas and never leave valuables in plain view. 911 Hang-up Calls
In the last 24 hours, police received 16 911 hang-up calls. The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that if you accidentally dial 911, please stay on the line. Should you hang up, the call taker will assume it’s an emergency and dispatch police. 911 Hang-up calls consume considerable resources, therefore police are asking all cell phone users to ‘lock it before you pocket.’

Did you know that in 2010, 34% of driver fatalities were as a result of the driver not wearing a seatbelt? In addition, 40% of passenger fatalities were as a result of passenger’s not wearing a seatbelt.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that seatbelts, when worn correctly, can reduce your chances of death in a collision by 47% and the chances of serious injury by 52%.
