Chatham Central Community Mobilization Initiative

On May 23, 2015, the New Chatham Central Neighbourhood Association will be launching their kick off to a healthier, safer and involved neighbourhood.

Please join us for free coffee and plants to start the positive growth of our neighbourhood together.

All neighborhood residents are invited to attend Wonderland Park for a plant distribution and exchange. Free plants that will be handed out to those in the area who want to improve their curb appeal and add a touch of beauty to their neighbourhood. You also have the opportunity to simply trade some of your old plants for new. Any person who needs assistance with planting can contact us and we will provide that assistance for you.

Community partners working with Chatham-Kent Police would like to announce a new initiative to mobilize this area around the notion of improving the safety and wellbeing for the residents of this neighbourhood. A four block area of central Chatham (Richmond St. on the northwest, Queen St. on the northeast, the CN railway tracks on the southeast and Lacroix St. on the southwest) has been identified as a pilot area for this Community Mobilization project.

Sgt. Jim Lynds said “This is about getting people to become active in their communities with the assistance and support of agencies so they can make their desired change, get to know their neighbours working towards a sense of community. We are building upon the good nature of the residents in the neighbourhood and support them in their endeavors.”

This new association will be looking for participation and input from residents about what they would like to see in their neighbourhood.

This event is supported by local neighbourhood businesses; Tim Horton’s, Giant Tiger and Cats and Dogs Pet Food Store all on Richmond Street.

Chatham-Kent Public Library is supporting this event by providing free books will to children and youth who attend this event.

This free event will be from 9:00 am – 11:00 am on May 23, 2015 at Wonderland Park on Raleigh Street and Patteson Street.
