On May 30th, 2015 just after midnight, Owen Sound Police Services, Owen Sound Fire Services and Paramedics responded to the rear parking lot of a business in downtown Owen Sound after receiving reports that a vehicle had driven into an adjacent building.
Upon arrival police found that a S.U.V. had reversed through a large window located on the side of the building coming to rest half-way into the building. Police found the driver and passenger to be both under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene. She was returned to the Owen Sound Police Service where she provided two breath samples resulting in readings that were twice the legal limit.
A 20 year old female has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and excess blood alcohol. She also was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for driving without a licence. The female will appear in court on June 11th, 2015.
The business was closed at the time. There were no injuries as a result of the collision, however damage to the window and vehicle were significant.
Owen Sound Fire Services assisted with the removal of the vehicle from the building .
