Pontiac Vibe T-Boned By Livestock Truck – Two Airlifted To London – Road Still Closed

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday July 22, 2015, Perth County EMS personnel, the West Perth Fire Dept., and Huron and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the intersection of Perth Road 180 and Line 36 (North of Dublin), regarding a serious two vehicle collision.

Initial investigation revealed that a west bound Pontiac Vibe travelling on Line 36 proceeded into the intersection of Perth road 180 directly in front of a south bound full sized empty livestock truck.

The Pontiac was T boned causing major injuries to the three occupants. Two occupants were transported by air ambulance to a London hospital while one occupant remains at a local hospital. The driver of the livestock truck was uninjured.

After the initial impact both vehicles entered the ditch area to the south west of the intersection. The livestock truck struck hydro poles and took down lines of a Hydro One sub-station located there. Damage to the Hydro One network has resulted in a power outage to hydro customers in and around Dublin.

The OPP Western Region Technical Traffic Investigation Unit was called to the scene and is continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision. The intersection is expected to remain closed to traffic until approximately 9 p.m.
