(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On August 2, 2015 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to numerous calls for service after a severe weather event passed thru the area of Teviotdale in the Town of Minto.
As a result of the severe weather event two homes were damaged. One home was severely damaged while a second home received moderate damage. A chicken barn and a cattle barn were also destroyed. OPP also report damage to five police cruisers. Though there was extensive damage to buildings and property there have been no reports of any personal injury.
OPP remind all citizens to stay away from downed hydro wires and trees and not to venture into areas where there is poor lighting. OPP are asking all motorists to be mindful that downed trees are very difficult to see in the dark and to reduce travelling speed in areas where the storm damage is the worst.
