Stolen Pickup Recovered – Suspect Seen Running Into Cornfiled

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at approximately 8:03 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an abandoned red pick-up truck blocking the eastbound lane of Grey Rd. 16 near Sunny Valley Rd., in the Township of Chatsworth. A witness observed a male running from the vehicle into a nearby cornfield.

The vehicle, a red 2005 GMC Sierra pick-up truck, had been reported stolen by Waterloo Regional Police Service. OPP believe the recovered vehicle was involved in the break-in at the Pharmasave on Grey Rd. 17B in the Township of Georgian Bluffs earlier Wednesday morning.

Grey County OPP, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit, searched the area for the male suspect having negative results.

The vehicle was taken to the Mount Forest OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit for expert examination.
