(LAKE HURON, ON) – On August 20th, 2015 at 7:30p.m. the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing swimmer in Lake Huron off the shores of Saugeen First Nation. Garrett LEWIS, 23, of Aurora, was last seen in a rocky area of the water off from a private cottage in the 200 block of Bruce Road 13 (Southampton Parkway), Saugeen First Nation.
The body of Garrett LEWIS was discovered and recovered by Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) divers at 7:45a.m. on August 23rd, 2015.
The search for LEWIS was very active; including assistance from the general public, Saugeen Shores Fire Department, OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, OPP Aviation Services, and both the Bruce Peninsula and South Bruce OPP Marine Unit’s.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled and will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Coroner.
