(GODERICH, ON) – A 56-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will be making a trip to court next month following his arrest this past week. On Friday, September 18, 2015 around 10:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were notified by a citizen of a suspected impaired driver that had just left a business located in Goderich. Officers immediately started patrolling for the suspect vehicle, a brown Chevrolet Venture van.
Shortly after officers located the suspect vehicle parked at a mini-mall plaza on Victoria Street North. Officers located the male driver seated in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition. Police spoke with the male driver and upon speaking with him they noted he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 56-year-old Dean KOLPIN from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 19, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
