(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Sunday September 20, 2015, shortly after 3 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols on Hwy 7 south of St.Marys.
The officer observed a fast moving car driving east bound on Hwy 7. By utilizing the police radar, the officer determined that the speed of the car was 137 km/h along a road where the speed limit is 80 km/h.
The vehicle, a Mazda sedan, was pulled over and the male driver, 37-year-old Yaya SYLLA of Stratford was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. He is to appear at Stratford Court on October 27, 2015, to answer to this charge.
The Mazda was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a period of seven days. The charged male’s driver’s licence was seized and has been suspended for a week.
