(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Thursday September 24, 2015, around 5 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a location east of Milverton where a pickup truck had driven into a ditch.
A short while later a black Ford pickup truck was located in a ditch along Line 67 west of Road 116. The lone male driver who was uninjured was with the vehicle. While speaking with the male it was determined that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.
32-year-old Devin J. VAN HARTEN of Cambridge has been charged with “care or control while impaired (alcohol and drug)”, and “care or control over 80 mgs”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 26, 2015, where he will have to answer to the charges.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days.
