(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Thursday September 24, 2015, around 7:20 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the intersection of Perth Line 33 and Road 111 for a serious two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
Investigation revealed that a motorcycle was stopped in the eastbound lane of Perth Line 33 waiting to turn left (north bound) onto Road 111. A pickup truck travelling eastbound on Perth Line 33 collided with the stopped motorcycle. As a result of the impact the motorcyclist and the heavily damaged Yamaha motorcycle ended up on the ground in the north east corner of the intersection. The pickup truck came to a stop on the south shoulder of Perth Line 33.
The 31-year-old male motorcyclist, a Stratford resident, was transported by air ambulance from the scene to a London Hospital with major injuries that are life altering in nature. The 70-year-old driver of the pickup truck did not sustain injuries.
The intersection of Perth Line 33 and Road 111 has been closed and will remain closed until the OPP West Regions Technical Traffic Investigators complete their investigation.
Road closed signs have been erected in all four directions around the collision scene and motorist are requested to find alternate routes around the area. The road is expected to remain closed to traffic until the middle of the afternoon.
