Impaired Suspended Driver Busted Near Listowel

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Sunday October 18, 2015 shortly after 2 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the area of Line 87 north east of Listowel where a possible impaired driver had been observed.

Around 2:30 p.m. a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was located at a business property along Line 87. While speaking to the male driver of the vehicle a determination was made that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Listowel where he refused to provide a breath sample for analysis.

41-year-old George Edward BELLEFEUILLE of Kitchener has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

– Care or control while impaired

– Fail or refuse to provide sample

He has also been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act of Ontario offence:

– Driving while under suspension

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on November 18, 2015, where he will have to answer to the charges.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days.
