Barrie Police wish to update the public on the recovery of the previously reported stolen police firearm and ammunition. On June 30 2015 Barrie executed a search warrant on a Clapperton Street address and located the stolen Smith and Wesson firearm, 2 clips + ammunition, police handcuffs and pouch. Barrie police wish to thank the public for providing information that was vital to the swift recovery of the equipment. The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as available.
Two Barrie Males both aged 20 were taken into custody at the scene and have been charged in relation to the theft
Male #1 – charged theft under $5000.00
Male #2 – held in custody for a bail hearing
#2 charged – Utter threats to cause death sec 264.1 CC
Possession of restricted Firearm/ ammunition sec 95(b) CC
Theft under $ 5000.00 sec 334(b) CC
Possession of weapon dangerous to public peace sec 88 CC
3 counts fail to comply with sentence sec 137 YCJA
