Thia-Anh Jason Do – Human Trafficking

On July 6, 2015, the Guelph Police Service began investigating a case of domestic human trafficking. Human trafficking refers to the exploitation of a person at the hands of another. It includes the recruitment, transportation and/or exercising control direction or influence over the movements of a person, typically through sexual exploitation.

As a result of the investigation, it is alleged that Thai-Anh Jason Do was involved in domestic human trafficking through sexual exploitation in Guelph and the Greater Toronto area. He was arrested at a Toronto area hotel on July 8, 2015.

Thia-Anh Jason Do, 26 years of no fixed address has been charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit, withholding documents, advertising sexual services, theft under $5,000, utter threats to cause bodily harm and assault.

Do was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court as well as a surety revocation warrant. He appeared in bail court on July 9 and was held in custody with his next appearance scheduled for July 13, 2015.

A second male, Timothy Paxton, 30 years of no fixed address was also arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and advertising sexual services at the same Toronto hotel and in relation to this investigation. He was held in custody and will next appear in court on July 14, 2015.
