At approximately 12:40 a.m. today police received a 911 call from residents living north of 20th Street East in Owen Sound. Roused from their sleep by voices, the victims observed 2 prowlers in a secure portion of their carport, watching them load beer into the back pack the thieves had brought with them.
Providing police with their direction of travel and descriptions, the offenders were taken into custody a few blocks north-east of the crime scene. Most of the stolen beverages were recovered; however, a few appear to have been sampled by the offenders prior to their arrest.
A 25-year old North Bruce Peninsula male and a 20-year old Owen Sound male are both charged with break, enter and theft; possession of property obtained by crime; prowl by night; and breach of conditions of release.
The 25-year old, already on charge for previous offences, was detained for a bail hearing. The 20-year old is scheduled to attend criminal court on August 20th, 2015.
