Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – July 17, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 106 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested.

Police Execute Search Warrant CK15021150

Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence in Chatham.

Officers located and seized 100 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, dried marijuana and hash oil. Total street value of the seized drugs was approximately $115,000.

A 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were both charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking and two counts of production of a controlled substance. A 16-year-old male youth was charged with possession of a controlled substance. All three were released with conditions pending a future court date of August 20, 2015.

Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a second Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence in Chatham.

Officers located and seized 32 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, dried psilocybin and plants. Total street value of the seized drugs was approximately $32,500.

A 28-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were both charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of production of a controlled substance. Both were released with conditions pending a future court date of August 20, 2015.

Man Charged with Criminal Harassment CK15021167

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a harassment investigation.

Since 2010, the man has been harassing a woman and her family by attending and calling the home, sending emails and threatening them. Earlier this week, the woman reported that she was still receiving unwanted Facebook messages from the man.

Yesterday afternoon, officers located the man and he was taken into custody. The 26-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with criminal harassment. He has been held pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15021170

Around 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Talbot Trail between Four Rod Road and Bloomfield Road. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $2000. A 17-year-old Merlin youth was charged with careless driving.
