On July 22, 2015, at approximately 8:45 pm, a motorcycle being operated in St. Jacobs refused to stop for police and sped away from the officer at a high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue that motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was not familiar with the area, was travelling at a high rate of speed, and lost control of his motorcycle striking a curb causing the motorcycle to drag along the ground. The driver was arrested and charged with several criminal and Highway Traffic Act offences, including; Over 80, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Owner operate no insurance, fail to produce permit, M2 Licence with BAC over 0%, Improper Muffler. Speed and alcohol are factors in this incident. No one was injured.
