Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15024849
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
In July 2015, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he must reside at a specific address on King Street East in Chatham.
On August 1, 2015, officers responded to a domestic disturbance on King Street and learned that the man was no longer living at that address. Officers attempted to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offence of failing to comply.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. this morning, officers located the 24-year-old man on Wellington Street West. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK15024812
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance in Chatham.
Last night around 7:30 p.m. the man and his girlfriend began arguing while at her residence. The man attempted to grab the woman’s cell phone to check her text messages. During the struggle over the phone, the man pushed her against a door and grabbed her by throat. The woman’s son fled the residence and called 911 from their neighbour’s phone. The woman did not require medical attention.
The 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Theft CK15024804
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a shoplifting complaint in Chatham.
Around 5:15 p.m. yesterday, the man attended Walmart on St. Clair Street. With a shopping cart, he proceeded to the electronics section where he selected headphones, speakers and two 19” RCA televisions. The man chose a backpack and filled it with the headphones and speakers. In the garden center area, the man put the backpack on and ran out the fire exit door with the televisions. An observant citizen notified police who were in the area for unrelated matter. A physical description of the man was provided to police.
The man was located a short distance away and the property was recovered in a nearby bean field and under a utility trailer at a residence on Pioneer Line. Total value of the theft was approximately $750.
The 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15024793
Just before 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Cedar Hedge Line near Prince Albert Road.
One person was transported to hospital. Total damage was estimated at $30,000.
A 76-year-old Oil Springs woman was charged with disobeying a stop sign.
