Impaired driver strikes car and residence – arrested
On August 23, 2015 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Flanders Road area for a reported hit and run. It is alleged that a male drove a motor vehicle in reverse at a high rate of speed leaving the roadway and striking a parked motor vehicle pushing it into a building. The driver then drove away but left the roadway on a turn causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The male was located and arrested a short distance away. Damages are extensive, estimated at $125,000 – $150,000.
Dominic Longo, 29 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving, drive over 80mgs and breach of probation. He will appear in court on October 6, 2015.
Drug arrest
On August 23, 2015 at 9:41 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a public washroom at Riverside Park after receiving the report that a male was inside with drugs. Police arrived as the male was exiting the washroom. The investigation led to his arrest and the seizure of a small quantity of Crystal Meth.
A 32-year-old Guelph man is charged with possession of a controlled substance and breach of undertaking. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 24, 2015.
Bike theft – arrest
On August 23, 2015 at 11:32 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report that a male had cut the lock and stole a bike on Glasgow Street. Police located the man shortly after on Dublin Street and he was arrested.
A 31-year-old Guelph man has been charged with theft under $5,000, mischief to property under $5,000, possession of break in instruments and breach of recognizance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 24, 2015.
Theft investigation
The Guelph Police are investigating an incident that occurred on the night of August 23, 2015 in the area of Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue, involving a possible theft of frozen meat. A suspect evaded police but left behind approximately $200 in stolen meats, as well as a large stack of collector cards.

Break and enter
On August 23, 2015 at 7:40 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Beverly Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage sometime overnight and stole a drill and drill bits.

Disturbance call leads to arrest
On August 22, 2015 at 7:31 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Fife Road for a male causing a disturbance. The male had allegedly been dumping garbage and causing issues with people in the area. When police arrived the male spit on a cruiser and he was arrested.
Joshua Gallo, 22 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and cause a disturbance. He will appear in court on October 6, 2015.
Bikes stolen
On August 22, 2015 the Guelph Police took the report of a bicycle theft from a Gosling Gardens residence. The bicycle, a Devinci Troy Carbon SX mountain bike, valued at approximately $5,000 was taken sometime overnight. Bicycles were also reported stolen over the weekend from Emslie Street, York Road, Edinburgh Road South, Woolwich Street and from the plaza on Clair Road West.

Drive over 80 mg – arrest
On August 21, 2015 at 4:25 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the south end. The vehicle and driver were located in a parking lot on Clair Road. Police spoke with the female driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. She failed this test and was arrested.
Hannah Williams, 21 years of Fergus has been charged with care and control over 80 mg. She will appear in court on September 4, 2015.
Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Maple Street, Cedar Street, Sackville Street and Stevenson Street South.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
