On Tuesday September 8, 2015 a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred on Northfield Drive just north of New Jerusalem Road in Woolwich Township. A 76 year old Guelph man was northbound on Northfield Drive in his 2004 Nissan Sentra when he stopped for heavy traffic. A 32 year old Elmira woman was also north bound on Northfield Drive and drove into the back of the Nissan Sentra. The impact sent the Nissan into the southbound lane of Northfield Drive where it was struck a second time by a BMW 325 which was being operated by a 55 year old Elmira man. The Guelph man died at the scene of the collision. The other drivers sustained minor injuries in the collision while a passenger in the BMW was not injured at all. The investigation is continuing. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision. Charges are pending.
