On October 8th, 2015 at approximately 11:40 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Hespeler Road and Avenue Road in the City of Cambridge. A Toyota Sienna van was turning from Avenue Road, south onto Hespeler Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing Hespeler Road in the crosswalk. The pedestrian, a 55 year old Cambridge resident was transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the van, a 56 year old Brampton resident, was charged with Fail to yield to pedestrian and making an improper left turn, both contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. One lane of Hespeler Road was closed for approximately 90 minutes during the investigation.
