(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – Members of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a male in relation to a series of thefts in the past few months that have occurred across Central Ontario.
Investigation revealed that the thief would offer a free carpet or window cleaning in support of his “new” business called Country Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. Once inside the victim’s residence, he or his accomplice would distract the owner to vacate a room and steal money, jewellery and other valuables.
On October 14, 2015 the West Parry Sound (OPP) responded to a call regarding door-to-door salesmen cleaning carpets in Parry Sound. Two males, possibly in their 50’s, were involved in the reported incident. While one male spoke to the owner, the other male cleaned the carpet and stole cash from a purse.
The West Parry Sound OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying any victim’s that have not come forward to police but perhaps recognize the scenario. Further victims are asked to contact Provincial Constable Cristian DUNA at West Parry Sound OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
