(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On January 1, 2016 at approximately 10:53 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2010 Pontiac that entered into a R.I.D.E. spot check on Elora Street at Union Street in Harriston, Town of Minto.
While speaking with the driver, police detected the odour of fresh marihuana emanating from within the vehicle. The driver surrendered a small quantity of marihuana to the officer.
Further investigation revealed that the male was suspended from driving and he was operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
46-year-old Jeffrey OOSTERVELD of Mapleton Township has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
