Occurrence Type: Fruad, Utter Forged Documement

On Monday, November 30, 2015 Police arrested and charged a 75 year old Barrie man for Fraud over $5000 and Utter Forged Documents after a lengthy investigation between the United States Social Security Administration, Ontario Provincial Police and Barrie Police Service. The male allegedly collected his deceased parents social security since their death in 1998 collecting over $200,000.

United States Social Security Administration began an investigation in 2012 when the deserving recipient of the social security cheques would have turned 100 years old, attempting to confirm their contact information and residence details. The investigation revealed that both the male and female had passed away in 1998 leading to Ontario Provincial Police and subsequently Barrie Police Service being notified to continue the investigation where the suspect lived and the crimes were committed.

The male released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date in January.

Date: Tuesday, December 1, 2015 – 11:35pm

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015 Police were called to 80 Innisfil Street, in the City of Barrie, in regards to a male causing a disturbance on the front lawn. Police attended and located an intoxicated male who was quite upset at his roommate not cleaning up after himself. His solution to the issue was to damage almost all of his own furniture within the apartment by throwing items onto the driveway and front lawn. In the process he caused damage to two vehicles parked in the driveway that did not belong to him.

The 59 year old Barrie male was charged with two counts of Mischief under $5000 and held at the Barrie Police Service until sober when he was released with a future court date at the end of December.

Occurrence Type: Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000

Date: Tuesday, December 1, 2015 – 12:45pm

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015 shortly after noon Police received a call from OPP advising they were on scene at 1893 Snow Valley Road, in Springwater Township, with a vehicle that had been involved in a single vehicle accident. The male driver was not the owner of the vehicle and when contacted, the registered owner told the Police neither of his vehicles were in his driveway where he had last seen them.

Barrie Police Service continued the investigation at this time and it was learned that two vehicles were stolen from the driveway on Robin Court, in the City of Barrie, as a result of a Break and Enter overnight where the keys were stolen. A 19 year old Barrie male has been arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.
