Oktoberfest Ticket Fraud

Commencing during this years Oktoberfest, the Fraud Branch and the Oktoberfest Policing Unit began a joint investigation involving counterfeit Concordia Club tickets. A total of 30 counterfeit tickets were seized and the financial loss to victims exceeded $1,000.00. As a result of the ensuing investigation, police determined that the tickets had been advertised at discounted prices on various popular internet based buying and selling social media websites. A male and female were subsequently identified as the individuals responsible for having sold the counterfeit tickets and a warrant has been issued for their arrests. The male, 41 years of age from Kitchener, and the female, 31 years of age also from Kitchener, are facing a total of five criminal charges for fraud, uttering a forged document and Breach of Probation & Undertaking. The Waterloo Regional Police Service would like to remind the public to exercise caution when using any public, internet based website advertising the sale of goods at discounted prices by recognizing the risk of fraud involved in such transactions.
