The closed road and leaky Howson Dam have long been one of Wingham’s greatest shames. At the 15Sept2014 North Huron council meeting a group of Citizens forced council to start to address this piece of rotting infrastructure. Click here to see the 2014 presentation to council.
The Howson Dam Committee will be at the 04Jan2016 council meeting. The Public is strongly encouraged to attend and show their support. Last time there was standing room only, they need a flood of humans to support them again 04Jan2016.
When the highest taxed Citizens in Ontario have to take such drastic actions to get our infrastructure maintained it is a 100% proof council and department heads have failed us.
Citizens have completely given up on council and have taken steps to maintain our infrastructure. These “infrastructure vigilantes” have painted fire hydrants, railings, trimmed weeds, started fund raising to bring town hall up to fire code, forcing action on Howson Dam, etc etc. These Citizens are clearly heroes, however it shows the complete and utter failure of our Municipal government.
We are the highest taxed Citizens in Ontario, our infrastructure is literally rotting and town staff salaries & benefits have been soaring unchecked. It is clear where the money is going.
