On Thursday just after 12pm police were called to a three vehicle collision in the 600 block of 10th Street West, Owen Sound. An area woman was the lead in her vehicle with two other vehicles travelling directly behind her. A white pick-up truck was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic and cut off the lead vehicle causing the woman to slam on her brakes. This caused a chain reaction as the 2nd vehicle rear ended the first and the 3rd vehicle rear ended the second. Two of the three drivers were transported to hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries. A 27yr old Allenford man and a 31yr old Owen Sound women who were operating the 2nd and 3rd vehicles were charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Anyone with information about the operator of the white pick-up truck should contact Constable Virginia McLeod at 519-376-1234 ext 140.
Police would like to remind motorists that with wet roads and snow that it requires a greater distance to stop. Therefore drivers should leave more space between their vehicle and other vehicles in order to prevent collisions such as this.
