(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – In December 2015 the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began a fraud investigation relating to a number of unauthorized credit card and bank card transactions.
It was determined through an investigation by the CKL Crime Unit that between February 1, 2015 and May 31, 2015 a senior resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes had been defrauded of approximately $40,000. The following two persons are now charged with Fraud Over $5,000 contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and Personation with Intent to Defraud (Identity Theft) contrary to 403(1)(a) CCC.
Jessica KUIPERS, 29 years of age, of Owen Sound
Thomas GREEN, 36 years of age, of Owen Sound
Both accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 18, 2016.
