Occurrence Type: Food Fraud Leads to Bail Court

Police were called to Tiff’s Bar located at 29 Anne Street South, in the City of Barrie, shortly after 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 for a male who did not want to pay his bill. Police spoke to employees who stated the male had a meal and some drinks, then informed them he did not have any money to pay. He had allegedly pulled the same trick over the weekend.
The male was cooperative with Police until he refused to sign release documents stating he would not show up for court if Police released him. Due to his non-compliance he was held for a bail hearing to answer to his charges.
The 36 year old Barrie man was charged with Fraudulently Obtain Food, two counts of Breach Probation and a Breach of Recognizance.
Occurrence Type: Theft from Unlocked Vehicles

Date: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 – 11:00pm
On Tuesday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00pm a single male was spotted checking unlocked cars in the Anne Street, Adelaide Street and Glenridge Road area in the City of Barrie. He was arrested a short time later with a bag full of property he admitted to collecting from unlocked vehicles in the Adelaide Street area.
The 34 year old Barrie male was charged with Prowl by Night and Theft Under $5000. Residents in the area are asked to check their vehicles. If your vehicle was entered overnight with items missing please contact PC E Sinclair of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext 2531 or the Property Unit at 705-725-7025 ext 2979 to have recovered property returned.
Barrie Police would like to remind residents of Barrie to please remember to lock vehicles overnight and take valuables inside at night.
