Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK16002153
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night, police received information about a possible impaired driver travelling southbound into Blenheim. An officer located the vehicle on Communication Road south of Talbot Trail and immediately initiated a traffic stop. The man had a bottle of beer in the cup holder next to him in the centre console and was alone in the vehicle. Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
Randy Shepherd, 54 years, of Adelaide Street in Shrewsbury has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of February 19, 2016.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK16002109
Yesterday morning, just before 9:00 a.m. the man attended a family member’s residence in Chatham to use the phone. Upon doing so, he was asked to leave and did as he did not have permission to stay. The homeowners left for work, however upon returning home, observed a broken door and the man inside their home.
The 18-year-old Chatham mas was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Theft CK16002130
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint. The man was observed concealing three (3) sets of Skull Candy head phones valued at $85 in his jacket. Upon being confronted by store security, the man turned over the property and fled on foot. A description of the man was provided to police and he was arrested shortly thereafter walking along St. Clair Street.
The 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK16002133
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Charing Cross Road. Through investigation, police learned that the man had assaulted his pregnant girlfriend earlier in the day and also the day prior.
The 24-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged with two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK16002182
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man walking in the area of King Street and Fifth Street in Chatham. Upon speaking with the man, he provided the officer with a false name. The officer recognized the man and through investigation learned that he was currently wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to comply, drug possession and failing to attend court.
The 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
