20 Year Old Crashes Into Owen Sound Building

At 6:24 p.m. Wednesday, February 24th, 2016 police were dispatched to the southwest corner of 2nd Avenue East at 10th Street East in regards to a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival police observed a 2008 Pontiac passenger van wedged between a pole and a stucco building. Below the van was a crushed city of Owen Sound garbage receptacle.

Damage to the van, which was borrowed from a friend, is estimated at $7500. Both sides of vehicle are significantly dented. Damage to the building facade is estimated at approximately $2000.

The collision is attributed to extremely poor road and weather conditions, combined with driver inexperience. A 20-year old unlicensed Owen Sound woman is charged with drive – no license.

The investigating officer, Constable George Suchomel states “It’s typical of that corner to be occupied by pedestrians that time of evening. We’re very, very fortunate that no one was injured”.
