Stolen 9mm Handgun Recovered In Owen Sound Methamphetamine Bust

On February 25th, 2016 officers from the Owen Sound Police Service, Drug and Intelligence Unit, with the assistance of Community Oriented Response Enforcement Unit (C.O.R.E.) and Criminal Investigations Branch executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 2000 block of 7th Avenue East.

During the search police recovered a 9mm handgun and ammunition, that had been stolen during a Break and Enter at a residence near Wiarton on February 18th, 2016. Police also seized over 10 grams of methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets and scales. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be approximately $1200.

Twenty-four (24) year old Dane Smith has been charged with;

Possession of a Stolen Firearm

Possession of a Firearm without Being the Holder of a Licence

Possession of a Restricted Firearm and Readily Available Ammunition

Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited (2 counts)

Careless Storage of a Firearm

Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

Smith will appear in Bail Court tomorrow, February 26th, 2016.
