Neighbours Help Save Family And Pet From House Fire

On Monday February 29, 2016 at 2:30 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police and the Cambridge Fire Department responded to a house fire on Queen Street East in the Hespeler area of Cambridge.

Alert neighbours noticed flames at the rear of the residence, called 911 and alerted the sleeping occupants. The prompt action of the neighbours ensured all three residents and a family pet escaped the residence unharmed. Upon arrival by emergency services, the rear of the residence was fully engulfed. Cambridge Fire Department and Waterloo Regional Police remain at the scene to monitor the structure and investigate. A portion of Queen Street East is currently closed to traffic and will remain closed for several hours. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Damage estimation is undetermined.
