Police Investigate An Assault Cause Bodily Harm in Chatham CK16004838

Yesterday morning around 7:30 am police responded to an assault cause bodily harm complaint on West St in Chatham. The victim and the accused had been out the previous evening socializing. An argument took place and the accused pulled the victim’s jacket over his head and began assaulting him. As a result of the assault, the victim attended Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention for a laceration to his head and 2 broken teeth.

A 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested for the above offences without incident and later released with a future court date.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16004858

Around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Merlin Road. The driver, a 28-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, and struck a hydro pole. Live wires came down on the vehicle which contained 2 adults, 4 children and one dog. Parties remained in the vehicle until hydro attended and turned off the hydro. Luckily, the occupants only suffered minor to no injuries as a result of the collision. Total damage was estimated at $35000.

This matter is currently under investigation.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16004905

In the early morning hours of Thursday Feb. 25th, 2016 police attended an establishment on Keil Dr in Chatham with regards to a domestic dispute. The accused male had administered a Noxious Substance and assaulted a female victim and other victims who were present at this location. Upon investigation with the female victim it was also learned that she suffered a previous injury at the hand of this same accused. At the time of the incident the male party fled the area.

On Feb. 28th, just after midnight, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 28-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault cause bodily harm, assault, and administer a noxious substance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16004907

On November 21, 2015 the man was released from custody charged with the offence of Obstruct Police. On December 22, 2015 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. As a result of this offence he was arrested and released on a Recognizance of Bail with conditions. The accused then failed to abide by these conditions, failing to sign in on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5th , 2016 . He also failed to attend court on Feb. 5th, 2016. As a result multiple warrants were issued for his arrest.

Last night, the mas was located at an address on Cecile Ave in Chatham and placed under arrest. The 26-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16004920

In the early hours of the morning police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on King St in Chatham. The driver of the motor vehicle hit a building causing extensive damage to the motor vehicle and building. The driver fled the scene. After police investigated the matter a 32-yr-oldChatham man was arrested and Charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Fail to Remain. Total damage is estimated at approximately $45,000.00.

The driver, did not sustain any injuries and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
