Man Arrested from Wanted List CK16005110
Yesterday afternoon around 2:50 p.m. police received information that the man was at the Downtown Chatham Centre. An officer attended the mall and located him on the main floor. The man was arrested on five outstanding warrants for multiple offences, including failing to comply, obstruct justice, break and enter, theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to attend court.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a forged cheque in the amount of $450. Through investigation, police confirmed with his family that they did not issue him the cheque. He was additionally charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and possession of a forged document with intent. The 28-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Update – Illegal Riding of ATV in Blenheim CK16003980
As previously released, on February 16, 2016 around 8:15 p.m. two men on an ATV were observed behind Food Basics on Chatham Street North. They were last seen travelling on Storey Street. About an hour and a half later, the men drove through the area again and momentarily stopped around the gas station.
A photograph of the two men riding the ATV was posted on social media and through investigation police identified one of the men involved. On February 27, 2016 police arrested and charged Jason Burchiel, 28 years, of Chatham Street in Blenheim with driving while prohibited and breach of probation. He was released pending a future court date of March 11, 2016.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that the only areas in Chatham-Kent that allow these vehicles to be driven on a road are in the Mitchell’s Bay, Erieau, Shrewsbury and Bates Subdivision (Rondeau) between November and March. It is not lawful for ATVs to be driven on and/or along a highway. They may be driven on your own property or other private property where you have permission to ride them.

Break and Enter in Ridgetown CK16005090
Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered a garage on Maple Street and stole beer, cigarettes and approximately $1000 worth of fishing equipment.

Sometime between February 29 and March 1 unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a garage on Hyslop Street and stole electronics.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16005116
Around 3:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue West near Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $5000.
A 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with driving a motor vehicle with no license and making a turn not in safety.
