(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A two-vehicle collision that took place early this morning near Centralia has resulted in the death of a man from Middlesex Centre Township.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and South Huron Fire Department responded to the crash scene located on Highway 4 (Richmond Street) just north of Mount Carmel Drive.
The driver and single occupant of a sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as James MCINTYRE, 75 years of age, from Middlesex Centre Township.
The preliminary investigation has determined a tractor trailer was travelling northbound on Highway 4 when it collided with the rear of a sedan that was also travelling northbound.
The driver of the transport truck was transported to hospital whereupon he was treated and released.
Investigators from the Huron County OPP Detachment & West Region OPP Traffic Incident & Management Team (TIME) attended the scene for the collision investigation.
Highway 4 re-opened at approximately 1:00 p.m.
