(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Sunday April 24, 2016, shortly before the noon hour, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along the Perth Oxford Road east of Tavistock stopped a west bound Hyundai motor vehicle for speeding.
The vehicle had been observed travelling at a high rate of speed when the officer activated the police radar. A reading of 133 km/h was locked in on the radar. (This is 53 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone.)
23-year-old Collin KLEIN of Tavistock was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is to attend Stratford Court on May 24, 2016, to answer to this charge.
His driver’s licence was seized and has been suspended for a period of seven days. His vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.
As the traffic picks up and Perth County Roads are becoming more heavily travelled during the Spring and Summer, the Perth County OPP will increase traffic patrols in an effort to keep roadways safe.
