This morning at approximately 3:20 a.m. an Owen Sound officer investigated a suspicious male in the 900 block of 4th Avenue East. The male attempted to provide the officer with a false name, however the officer recognized him as being wanted for a shoplifting incident at an Owen Sound store, two weeks previous.
As the officer attempted to arrest the suspect, he fled on foot from the officer. The male was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
A subsequent search discovered that he was in possession of a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine.
Christopher Heintzman, 26 years, of no fixed address was charged with, theft under $5000, two counts of possession of stolen property, breach of probation and possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine). He was subsequently held in custody pending a bail hearing.
