(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged an Ottawa man following an investigation into historical allegations of child sexual assaults.
The incidents occurred in Ottawa between 1978 and 1999.
On May 2, 2016 the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section arrested and charged Derek MCKAY, 63 years old, of Ottawa with 27 criminal offences including Sexual Assault, Indecent Act, Forcible Confinement, Mischief, and sexual offences per Criminal Code charges existing at the time of the offences.
These charges related to multiple incidents involving victims ranging in age from 13-18 years old. Mr. Mckay lived in the Ottawa area during these years.
He will appear in court May 3, 2016 for a bail hearing.
The Ottawa Police continue its investigation and is concerned there could be more victims.
