19 Year Old Drunk Driver Narrowly Misses Police Cruiser In Walkerton – Name Released

(WALKERTON, ON) – On May 21, 2016 at 11:09 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on patrol along Durham Street east in Walkerton when the police vehicle was nearly hit by a Silver Volkswagen Jetta turning onto Durham Street east. The vehicle was signalled to pull over using the cruiser emergency lighting, but it kept going.

Officers got the vehicle stopped on Colborne Street south and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Nineteen-year-old Michael RATCHFORD from the Municipality of South Bruce has been charged with improper right turn, fail to stop and operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 6, 2016 to answer to the charges.
