(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 59-year-old from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams following a traffic stop that took place this weekend. On June 11th at approximately 7:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received notification that a Ford pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Mount Carmel Road in an erratic manner.
Officers began patrolling for the pickup truck and within a few minutes an officer located the pickup truck on McTaggart Line near Huron Street. Upon speaking with the male driver, officers noted he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a Fail. He was placed under arrest for Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. A search of the vehicle was also completed and officers located an open bottle of liquor inside the vehicle.
The driver was subsequently transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests where he provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 59-year-old Paul LOVIE from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 8, 2016. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
