(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On June 19, 2016 at approximately 6:20 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a Dodge minivan and a wheelchair occupied by a male party, near the intersection of Elora Street South and Yonge Street, Harriston.
The wheelchair operator was 55-year-old Normand BELAIR of Harriston. He was brought to a local hospital by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and then airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the van, 69-year-old Barb HOFFELE of Harriston was not injured.
On June 22, 2016 Police were notified BELAIR had succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of the collision continues to be investigated by the Wellington County OPP.
